Using AI at work
Knowing when AI fits
Recognise the tasks where generative AI genuinely helps: drafting, rewording, summarising, exploring ideas.
Generative AI is good at producing and transforming text: a first draft, a rewording, a summary, a translation, a list of ideas, an explanation adapted to an audience. In these tasks a person keeps the final say.
Knowing where AI fits avoids two opposite mistakes: refusing a tool that would save hours, and using it where it adds risk without adding value. Teams that share this judgement use AI more, and more safely.
A request suits AI when the result can be reviewed quickly, an imperfect first version is acceptable, and no sensitive data or binding decision is involved.
